Location

We offer full time intensive courses:

  • in June at the Royal Holloway University of London, Egham, Surrey

    • The course is open to both RHUL and non-RHUL students.

    • You will need to either arrange accommodation nearby or commute to this course. We can sometimes help with local home stay accommodation.

  • in August in Berkshire College, Maidenhead, Berkshire.

    • This course is open to everyone

    • We can offer residential accommodation at significantly reduced rates for our trainees in Berkshire College, so this course is provides a perfect option for trainees from other countries or other parts of the UK.

The course

It is a very intensive programme and because of this we strongly recommend that you have no other commitments for the duration of the course. This option is challenging, but at the same time it is a highly rewarding and enjoyable way of acquiring the skills and knowledge you need to become a competent and confident teacher of English as a foreign language.

Many EFL teachers will tell you how their initial training course was one of the best and most enlightening things that they have ever done!

Teaching Practice

This is a key part of the course. It is where you get to teach real students so you can put the things that you cover during the course into action and develop your teaching skills under the close and careful guidance of the trainers.

The trainers help you plan, observe you teaching and then give you extensive feedback/suggestions/ideas after the lesson, which you can implement in future lessons. You are really able to notice how much rapid progress you make in the classroom from the first teaching practice to the last, which is incredibly satisfying and rewarding.

RHUL Centre

Teaching Practice usually takes place in the mornings, though we may also offer opportunities to do the teaching practice in one of our other centres in the evenings or weekends.

Berkshire College Centre

Teaching Practice can take place in the daytime or the evenings. We may also offer the teaching practice in one of our other centres.

Accommodation

Home stay accommodation is available in Berkshire College and may be available for Royal Holloway if booked early. Half-board and full-board options possible.

Residential accommodation can be available in Berkshire College for trainees with an up-to-date DBS. (Ardmore can help you organise this if you need). The accommodation in Berkshire College is in shared rooms with half board included.

  • Rooms rates for 2020 are from £37 per night including half board (breakfast and evening meal)
